2021 XC90 Intellisafe - what tech is inside this. Radar? Lidar?

Hey fellow volvo peeps, was curios what tech is in this thing. I have 2 different dealerships telling me 2 different things. Many thanks!

My reading suggests that a MY21 XC90 (SPA) is not based on Lidar but rather Radar just like MY16-20 XC90s.

* MY21 XC90 is based on SPA - and not on SPA2.
* The XC90 has been reported to be the first model to use SPA2 in production.

The press release indicates that Lidar will be on SPA2 and the XC90 in 2022 production. I think this practically means MY23 XC90, but only Volvo knows for sure. [Edit: See Post 4 below.]

P.S., No speculation on other Volvo models or brands (e.g., Polestar).

Thanks I appreciate the reply. I was hoping the 21's were not Radar because the frequency of that is arouind 80ghz, where a cell phone is 2,4ghz, that is a lot of non ionizing radiation to have in such close proximity to the body. Guess I am trading my 21 in for a 22 as soon as they hit.

I just found this May 2021 article - suggesting MY22 XC90 may be the first production model with SPA2.

That would be super news. Speculation was that it might be delayed another year. This article suggests otherwise. I wish Volvo would give us an official update.
