I don't know what the end result was but the issue here was that Volvo, for some odd reason, joined forces with GM. The 4T65 transmission was from General Motors; my dad used to have a transmission shop and that's how I know. We used to work on those religiously on GM cars, and during my time working with him, I did see a Volvo that had the transmission. I thought to myself, "poor guy buying a GM Volvo". Fast forward to 2020, and I bought an XC90 T6 AWD; the irony of life. Fact is, many components are outsourced sometimes in a particular part or complete assembly. RAM moved to ZF in their transmissions because their weak point has always been the transmission and so on, and so on. Anyway, I know the post is old and hope it was resolved.
