New on the forums. Looks like a great group of knowledgeable people are on here!
I hope you can help.
We had an attempt to steal our XC90 last night. Typical two man team one by the car, the other waving a device around the outside of the house trying to pick up the signal from the keys.
The keys are in signal blocking locations, so no success for the thieves. However, I am taking the car travelling and then will be leaving it parked up for a period of 2 to 3 weeks at a friends house.
Is there any way to disable the car (fuse pull / relay pull / other) that I will stop the car from being started even if thieves gain access to the keys?
I did speak to Volvo about the remote vehicle immobilsation (RVI) service that requires a PIN from Volvo assist to re-enable the car. However, they will only do this for a confirmed stolen vehicle.
Any advice from the forum on the best way to disable the car? I obviously don't want to disable the car security systems, just stop the car from being started and want to avoid error codes when I do re-enable the vehicle on my return.
Many thanks
