engine light shortly after maintenance alert

about a week ago i got an maintenance alert on the dash, my appointment isn't until next week because they are so backed up with winter tire season.

Just today i got an engine light, could it be related to the maintenance alert? is there a way to tell what it is?

Could probably use any generic obd2 reader to see what the code is.
