What I Drive
2017 xc90
#61
I purchased Alan xc90 T6 in early May As this is being written we are driving cross country from Florida to Montana. ( No, I'm not driving at the moment.) We have experienced several problems with the nav system during the trip. Specifically, the system refuses to show points of interest after they have been selected per the manual. Further, while it shows road construction on the map it does not re-direct you to an alternate route, again after that option has been selected. This was particularly annoying as we sat for 45 minutes somewhere east of St. Louis, Mo. Upon calling our local Volvo dealer in Florida we were told there is a recall on the nav system. My issue is the failure of Volvo, or Volvo dealers to advise purchasers whose e-mail and other information they have of current recalls. I also nearly agree with the member who found the color scheme of the current navation system more difficult to read than necessary.

I have had my XC90 since February and I really like the car but the NAV system is terribly behind the current technology. I've experienced all of the the things mentioned above and I'll add that the current system tries to route me around Toll roads when I've told it that I want to use Toll roads. The voice navigation is almost unusable for everything except the simplest chores. Trying to find POIs requires a magician! The Nav system recently showed me POI choices from 400 to 600 miles away. My 2011 Ford Explorer Nav system was light years ahead of the current Volvo system. I sure hope somebody familiar with current technology is working on this.

Hey all! Just joined the forums, wanted to say a quick "Hi!" Currently just creeping for information. I'm on the verge of purchasing a used 2016 XC90 T6 AWD Inscription, so I figured I'd see what actual owners have to say about the vehicle before I make my final decision. I've found forums like this to be very helpful in my motor vehicle decisions in the past, so looking forward to spending some time here!

Hi Everyone,

I'm trading in my 2013 XC90 that I've driven for the last 5 years (and love) for a brand new 2017 T8 Inscription. I pick it up Thursday. I'm super excited!

Hi all, we don't plan on trading but would like to add a 2016 XC90 to our stable around year end. I'm looking forward to any insights on things to lookout for and must haves on this vehicle. We'll also be new to Volvo.

Dropped a hello on a separate thread but it of a 535d touring. (I get that)

Ordered a black R Design with winter and apple play packs on it..... Never driven it so a partially blind purchase. The other options were:
- new Discovery 5, not the prettiest (in Scotland it's called minging, hummin or stinking).
- Audi Q7 but it's options critical like our 5 series and heading towards ?60k too much
- Mercedes GL, my personal favourite but getting old.

Anyway hi. Only question I have so far is has anyone managed to remap the new D5 engine?

Thanks but those are for the old 2.4 D5. I'm looking to remap the new 2.0 Twin turbo D5. I can see the Polestar upgrade stated that the maximum output of the D5 Drive-E engine is increased to 233 hp and 500 Nm of torque (up from 225 hp and 470 Nm

Here's a Swedish tuning company..

Hi everyone,
Completely new to Volvo and have been driving Lexus RX Hybrids (400 and 450) for the past several years. About to complete my purchase of XC90 T8 and am having a hard time deciding between Inscription and the R-Design. They are comparably equipped and close in what they will cost. This car will be used as a family hauler so would appreciate any insights the community can share in helping me make my decision.

Thank you

XC90 Inscription

Hi,

My advice for you, is to pick the one that hits your buttons. I chose the Inscription because I wanted the upgraded leather, ventilated seats and the added bright work on the outside. But I did think serious about the R-Design. I love the bursting blue color and the more aggressive outside look. The things that kept me from buying the R-Design: Didn't care for any of the wheels, I did not want black interior and I could not get ventilated seats.

Both will be more or less the same for family duties, so it comes down to what options you prefer.
