Hey all,

The fuel pump is going out on my wife's 2005 XC90 2.5T and our local Volvo specialist wants about 1200 for the repair. I'm looking at buying the part and doing it myself to save a few bucks.

The problem I'm having is making sure to select the correct part. I'm reading that the fuel pump part numbers coincide with the last six of the VIN or chassis number. My chassis number is 193563, none of the parts I'm finding online match this chassis number.

Any help finding the correct fuel pump for my Volvo would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Thanks ivobivo, but those sites still didn't list a part matching my chassis number exactly.

Another question though:
When the part description reads "From" chassis #167187, does that mean that chassis numbers further or higher in sequence like mine being 193563 would be compatible?

I'm seeing the statement "From" and "To" certain chassis #.

Thanks

By decoding the VIN you have 2005 XC90 7-Seater AW42AWD / 4T65-AWD with B5254T2 R5 2.5L engine and you are right - its difficult trough this sites to determine the right part for you.

If you can check your car documentation and your fuel tank is 72 liters your pump must be p/n 30761742 - https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/...ylinder-Turbo/Pump-unit/1127227/30761742.html ... is there a way to disassemble your pump and to see the correct OEM p/n on it?

Hey there,

So a whole bunch of comments to this post. First, this forum doesn’t get a lot of traffic. You’re better off posting in Swedespeed in the XC90 (2003-2014) forum, where you’ll get a lot of great help.

Second, is the pump itself bad or is it just leaking/you have a gas smell in the cabin? There’s a pretty good video online for just sealing the top of the pump if it’s leaking. Will take me a bit to find it now, but that’s what I did when my ‘04 was leaking. Even if you have to replace it, the video is a good guide.

Third, do you only want to use a genuine Volvo fuel pump or is OEM quality okay with you? FCP Euro has this Bosch pump which should work for you just fine: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/volvo-fuel-pump-assembly-30761745-30761746.

Fourth, if you aren’t entirely sure, just send FCP Euro an email with your VIN and they’ll tell you all your options, even if you don’t purchase from them. (You are correct, by the way, in your understanding of how the “From chassis 123456” should be interpreted in the description of a part - it will work for any vehicle whose VIN has the last 6 digits of “123456” or higher.)

Finally, and maybe I just missed it - didn’t the dealer give you a printout if the estimate (which should have included the p/n), or was it a quote over the phone?
