The Volvo XC90 has been handing out lessons to the BMW X5 and the Audi Q7 as the XC90 has managed to totally revive the Volvo brand all on its own.

Geegly invested $11 billion four years ago in Volvo and some eyebrows were raised over it. Some cash was spent on the development of the SPA platform and some went on a new engine. However, this is money that was spent very well and which has paid off.

The Volvo XC90 and S90 have proved this as sales have been rising year over year, more so when it comes to the XC90. Sales of the vehicle rose sky high in the US by 259%.

The Volvo XC90 has another four years and it will then be classed as the oldest vehicle in the line-up. The boss said that the South Carolina production plant will make 100,000 vehicles by the middle of 2018. Of course there is also talk about Volvo teaming up with Uber for autonomous driving, which is very exciting.

Volvo has done a great deal of research in regards to vehicles that drive themselves and the Volvo XC90 has been the vehicle of choice. It was seen in testing on the roads in Pittsburgh.

It was just three years ago when Volvo said that they wanted to be known as the top-tier brand for premium cars. They wanted to be able to sell 800,000 vehicles per year. They have sold 425,000 to date and sales have doubled in a period of four years. The Volvo XC90 has gone a long way in helping them and they believe that the figure is still achievable.
