Has anyone info on what causes the eventual handbrake adjustment to run out...

We are stuck on an MOT because of the handbrake cannot be adjusted further. Is it going to be straightforward. The volvo parts people told the garage they had never sold new cable - that it couldn't possibly be a cable. Anyone been here ?

Hi... where do you adjust the parking brake... on the adjuster under the midconsole on drivers side

cables invariably stretch and at some point you can't adjust the play out of the parking brake. It's no big issue just replace it. Good Luck.
