T8 hybrid remote start problems

I just purchased a 2016 T8. I live in the north east and need a remote starter for winter. I have just found out that my hybrid won't remote start. It will "pre condition" but only if the hybrid battery is at 80% or more. In the short time it takes me to drive to work the battery goes below that level. I don't have the ability to charge at work. I can't pre condition my car for the drive home. I spent quite a bit of time talking to Volvo tech yesterday. There is no work around that they know of. Anyone else having this issue? Any ideas?

I read somewhere online that they hope to introduce this function sometime in late 2016. Sorry, but I can't recall where I saw that. I hope it is true!
