Tailgate opening and closing issues

I own a 2016 XC90 and the tailgate is not working properly. When I try and open it, either with the button or fob, it will only open about a foot. It will then close right away. If I open it fully (manually) and hit the buttons to close, it only closes about 1 inch then stops. Nothing appears to be blocking or in the way. Any advice will be greatly appreciated
