Xc90 (2016) - Autoboot lid opening problems

Hi, my bootlid used to automatically open, however recently it has stopping working and now instead of it opening all the way up, will open only so far (about quarter) and will shut again. Its as though the bootlid is sensing that someone or something is in the way and it is closing to avoid contact. On the odd occasion it will opn half way and stay there.

does anyone have any ideas of how to reset it or fix the issue? I have already tried dicinnecting the battery for an hour to see if that helps and it didn't.
